Why Does My Lip Curl Up?

Today while in a small cafe, your mum and I took turns introducing a sliced pickle to you. We placed it tentatively on your tongue. Your lip curled up but you opened your mouth. You really seemed to like it and rubbed your little gums on it…even while your lip was curled up. It was tooooo cute. Your mother and I have decided you are the most beautiful, spectacular thing on this planet. 🙂

After the pickle introduction, you seemd to notice everything we were eating. This weekend your mum is going to get some organic rice cereal. She will introduce you to it on a small baby spoon as prescribed in her “What to expect during the first year book”.

You wear a bib nearly all the time now since you are a perfect drooling machine (much like your Aunt Rachael was when she was your age). It will be interesting to see how the drool increases or mixes up with the food when you start in on your baby food eventually.

Every day is an adventure for you!

Busy Bee Baby

You had an action packed adventurous day today. Your mum packed you up in your baby pounch sling and off you two went on the bus to the Health Department (baby class). Many adoring fans greeted you on the bus (no touching, says your mum!). During the baby class, you were the most content baby there (your classmates were a bit on the grumpy side, poor little ya-yas). There were lots of things to see and people to observe. The bus driver was very pleasant.

Next, your mum started her first class at ICC in the evening. She was excited to get started, but tired at the end (it was a long day).

While your mum was in class, I took you to a political meeting. It was a membership meeting for the National Organization for Women. In the year 2009, women still need organizations to help all Big Folk understand that women make up half of the human race, and it is their right to be equal politically and socially (as it is the right of all humans to be equal). You will grow into a smart compassionate woman. 🙂

Although your gramma-cat was a little embarassed that your mum painted your toenails, many people thought it was cute (!). You had lots of attention and there were many jokes about you being the youngest member of the organization. I told them that you already understand activist chant. I demonstrated by holding your arm up high to display your clenched fist.
“What do we want??!!!!” [fist shake]
“Ba!!!” [bottle]
“When do we want it?!!!” [shake fist]
“NOW!!!” [shake fist]
Yayyyy!!!!! 🙂

During the event, there was a very smart and pleasant leader speaking. He wants equal rights for all people, and he has been working with leaders in the Government organization to get a law passed that sets the rule in our Constitution (Big Folk Rule Book) that includes women as equal. After an hour you started to get a wee bit fussy. But when the man spoke, you stared up at him very quietly throughout the entire talk. You seemed to be listening. 🙂

Then we picked up your mum from school, came home, did a few chores and went night-night. Aaaahhhh. Busy Bee Day. Zzzzzz.

Luthy Botanical Garden

Today you, your mum and I visited the Botanical Garden before heading over to the zoo. By the time we entered the zoo, you were asleep of course. You visited the petting area, had a gander at the lemurs, and pondered the peacocks. It was a pleasant day, and your mood ranged from cranky and tired to giggling and alert. 🙂

Later that evening, your mum ambushed your toes while you were sleeping!

Addison, The Scientist

Conversations with the Big Folk can only go so far. Your mum decided you might be ready to discover the world of physics. At first you were unsure of your workbench. But after tentative, and then closer examination, you decided to investigate. You shared your theories with your mum and gramma-cat, and ultimately were very pleased with your findings.
