Addison, your Aunt Rachael and I went to visit your dad and mum.  We cooked dinner for them.  Your Dad was tired, he works very hard.  His face was red from being in the sun, and your mom reminded him to wear sun block.

Your Grandma Sherry called to check on you and your dad and mum.  She said she’s going to come over to your house next week and teach your mum how to cook.  I’ll probably go to her house this weekend to help her with her computer.  I’ll never forget the moment you were born.  I squeeled in shock, and your Grandma Sherry had both hands to the sides of her face, saying “Ohhhhhh!”   🙂

Your mom said that you were at her breast nearly non-stop last night for about 4 hours.  You know exactly what you want now. 🙂 Your mom looked very tired this evening.  Your Aunt Rachael and I cleaned up quickly and left you and your young parents to settle down for the evening.

You were very alert today.  You mom and dad see you like this often enough, but usually when I see you, you are sleeping.  Not today.  Your beautiful blue eyes were wide awake and looking at everything.  Sometimes you looked contemplative, other times you looked puzzled.  Maybe I read too much into your expressions. In any case you are riveting to look upon.

Today your mother and I decided you need to go up a size in diapers.  You are a big and beautiful baby.  We went to the Journal Star to submit the announcement of your birth.  You can bet your mom will have that article in her scrap book when it comes out.  Your mother loves to collect sentimental trinkets and pictures.  She’s definitely a hallmark kinda girl.

We also took you to meet your Great-grandma Jerry.  She squeeled with delight and doted on your beauty.  Her dear friend, Robin, held you too.   Robin has known your mother since your mum was a wild teenager.  Robin is a very kind woman.  I think you’ll like her too.

Your Aunt Rachael is visiting you right about now, as I write this post.  I’ll see you tomorrow morning.

Addison, your mum and I took you to the doctor’s office today.  You lost 5oz but that’s to be expected.  You should gain it again in two weeks.  Your mom now thinks that your eyes are going to be blue like your Dad’s.   The general consensus is that you look exactly like your dad.  I think you do have your mum’s nose and maybe her top lip though.

We met your great-aunt Janene today.  She is a very nice lady, I think you’re going to like her.  She told me about your second-cousin Jack, who is 6 months old.  I imagine you’ll play with him allot.

Addison, today I watched as you happily churned your mother’s breast in your mouth. 

Your mother, being a newbie mother, didn’t realize you can’t change a baby without something substantial (like a changing pad) underneath.  She changed your diaper with a cloth underneath, and sure enough: you peed on her.  Your Dad was a little irritated with your mum and told her ‘that’s what the changing table is for’.  I told your dad, that’s the way your mom learns:  trial and error.  I doubt she will change you on her lap from now on, and if she does, it will be with a changing pad underneath.  🙂  You finally had your diaper changed successfully and got all swaddled up to fall asleep again.

Many visitors came to your house today to see you.

Addison, today you started latching on to your mother’s boob quite nicely.  You had a poop last night and one today.  Your mother can hardly wait to get into some “cute clothes” again.  You know how she is.
