Today was an average day, not much to report from your mother. I had a very busy and stressful day today at work. If only I could see your face for a few minutes, I know it would have been like taking a relaxation pill. Your soft peaceful presence is good medicine. 🙂
Addison, today you and your mother came to visit me at work. Nearly everyone was gone for the day. A few people were still there and they graciously chatted with us about you. You worked your face muscles really good. I notice your eyebrows furrow the most when you are exposed to light. Which makes sense since you sleep allot.
Your mum was wearing her hair in tight curlettes and looked very nice. Your mother is pretty, as you know.
I saw your Grandma Sherry today. She took you and your mother to the Health Department on biz before bringing you two to my work. She drives a big blue truck. Blue to match her pretty eyes and yours too. You definitely got the color of eyes from you Poppy’s side o’the family. 🙂
Addison, your mom left you at home with your Poppy for a few hours. She came over to your Gramma-cat’s house to pick up a few “cute” outfits. She said she felt anxious leaving you. Of course you were in good hands, but it’s natural to feel strange at first when one’s newborn isn’t within reaching distance.
She told me, “She’s such a good little baby, she rarely cries.” You do seem to be a peaceful little one. I think you will grow up to be smart, funny, compassionate, gracious, and happy. 🙂
Today was the first Mother’s Day for your mother, Addison. Your Dad and Mom, your Aunt-Rachael, and I all met at your Great-grandma Jerry’s place to visit with your g-grandma Jerry. [I’ll post pictures later.] Then Dad went home for some much needed sleep, and the rest of us went to the Mall to walk around. Then we took you and your mother home, so she and your Dad could visit your other grandma, Grandma Sherry. It was a very nice day. Once again, you had many admirers. Oh yeah, your umbilical cord came off today!
Addison, my love, your modern day birthstone is Diamond. In the ancient world it’s Sapphire (Ancient Arabic, Hebrew, Italian, Roman, and Russian). Question: why do we have to have a precious stone assigned to our birth days? (Consider this is posted to the Superstitous category 🙂 .)
Some day when you grow up, you’ll come to know that many people are not as fortunate as we are. They live very hard lives and they are used by greedy men to get things (like diamonds and sapphires) to us, the Fortunate People. It is up to us to choose not to buy/take these things. Perhaps when we no longer want these items, the greedy men will not use up the less fortunate people.

I hope that when you grow up, you will be aware of the rest of the world, including the less forunate people. I hope you will choose wisely. I hope you know the important difference between needing something and desiring it. Many people where we live, in this very fortunate place, do not know the difference. I think you will be different. You will be strong, smart, funny, gracious, and compassionate.
