Addison at 13-14 months

Addison, you have an aversion to shoes now, it would seem. A few months ago when you would pick up shoes and taste them, your mother and I would say, “yuck” and make a hissing sound. From then on you understood that shoes were to be picked up and handed to us (thank you!). Now when you see shoes — anywhere, including a store — you make a hissing sound! Not sure how to correct that one…hehe.

You are walking a good portion of the time now and have just recently discovered that it’s ok to fall down. In fact, the other day you were all worked up and in a silly mood (your Aunt Rachael has that affect on you) and decided to practice falling down. You would drop to the ground on your knees (not far to go), then hug the floor, giggle, and get up and do it all again.

You understand most things that are said now, even though you don’t speak. You are an extremely bright baby (and that just ain’t ya GrammaCat talk).

Hey Addison! You are one year and one week old today. You have transformed from a ‘baby blob’ to a lovely little toddler. You still have your sweet disposition. You are inquisitive, energetic and happy.

Springtime & drinkin’ from a cup

Your four top teeth are popping down just as the green grass is popping up. I wonder what you will look like with four brand new top teeth.

Today you slammed down a half dozen cups of water! Of course there was less than an ounce in each, but you have become a real pro at drinking from a cup. Your mum, aunt, and I were thoroughly entertained. I laughed so hard, was tearing up. Each time you took a swig and we all clapped, you smiled and were just as proud as could be. Then you reached out for another cup.

Also, you now understand that when someone says bye-bye, there’s more to it than just the bye-bye game of waving hands. If you are having fun and see that you buddies are leaving, you will protest with a wrinkly face and a faint cry.

You love the fishies in the aquarium at your poppy’s house.

You are so smart and developing just fine.
